This came via email from Charo Castro, a high school classmate of Jason's on Sept. 4th, 2002.

I studied as an exchange student in Mountain View during the school year 1991-1992, my name is Charo and I come from Spain. I met Jason because I attended Choir class and also because my host sister, Andrea belonged to the Jazz Choir as he did. I really don't know what to say because what I have just read has left me deeply sad, All I can tell you is that after ten years I have always remembered Jason dearly as a very kind and sweet person. We went together to Homecoming dance that year and I remember I that evening as a very special one, not only because it was the first dance I ever attended to, but also because he was great company!.

Some times I try to take a look in Internet to see if I can find out what has happened with my American classmates and today I looked for Jason. First I got to his and his family page and felt delighted to see that he had married and built a family. I am sure he must have been a wonderful loving husband and father. Then I decided to take a look at the family page... and it has really been a blow. Maybe this message comes out a bit weird but I just didn't want to acknowledge the fact that he is gone without telling you that thousands of kilometers away and after ten years he's remembered fondly and his loss is felt. I know this is very little comfort before such pain, but I felt this was the least I could do.

Please send my condolence and a strong hug to his wife, children and the rest of the family. Having known such as good person as your brother was is a real honor.

Sincerely

Charo Castro
